Overview of the Axis F41 main unit

Rugged and easy-to-install Axis F41 main unit for use with one of the Axis F-series ultra-compact sensor modules for non-invasive surveillance. Features include HD 1080p at 60 fps, wide dynamic range, Axis Corridor Format, two-way audio, I/O capability, video motion detection, dual codec, SD card recording and PoE. The Axis Companion application is supported and mobile access is available through the Axis Companion mobile app.

The Axis F41 main unit is designed for use with one of the Axis F-series sensor units, to provide ultra-compact and unobtrusive video surveillance in applications such as ATMs and doorways. The F41 unit can be placed up to 12m away from the sensor module and is suitable for outdoor use when sheltered. An indoor or outdoor sensor module can then be connected and installed in tight spaces. Capable of HD 1080p at up to 60 frames per second, the Axis F41 unit generates high frame rate, smooth video suitable for recording fast-paced activity whilst also offering full colour image capture down to 0.3 lux.

Wide dynamic range (WDR) Forensic Capture enables the F41 main unit to provide high quality image detail even in difficult lighting, improving visibility in dark and bright areas. This feature is ideal for security scenarios such as entrances or in front of ATMs, where the subject will often appear dark against a a bright background. If a scene is more vertically orientated than horizontal such as a pathway, Axis Corridor Format technology vertically orientates the video stream to stop redundant areas from being recorded, saving bandwidth and storage.

With two-way audio support, the Axis F41 can be connected to a speaker and microphone (not included), to allow audio capture from the camera's surroundings and verbal interaction through the camera. With I/O capability, the F41 unit can also be connected to external equipment such as a PIR sensor, to trigger actions on motion detection or user request. Intelligent video capabilities include audio, tampering and video motion detection, alerting the user to an event via email and also triggering edge recording in addition to other actions.

The Axis F41 main unit supports H.264 and Motion JPEG compression for flexibility depending on requirements, whilst power via either Power over Ethernet (PoE) or DC supply provides a choice of power supply to best suit the application. A built-in SD card slot provides edge recording capability, ensuring data remains smooth and uninterrupted even during network connection loss (SD card not included).

The Axis F41 main unit comes wit support for Axis Companion software, providing video management for up to 16 channels. The Axis Companion mobile app for iOS and Android provides easy mobile access from smartphones and tablets.
