Overview of the Axis P3904-R

A compact and rugged network camera from the Axis P39-R series especially designed for surveillance in mobile transport applications. Features HD 720p, 87° horizontal viewing angle, dual codec, Axis Corridor Format, Traffic Light mode, intelligent video motion detection, wide dynamic range, PoE and Micro SD card recording.

Part of the P39-R series of dome network cameras from Axis, the P3904-R delivers wide area coverage with its 87° wide horizontal viewing angle and can capture full HD 720p video footage at up to 30 frames per second in a variety of lighting environments down to 0.2lux. Aimed usage in onboard transport infrastructure (internal), the Axis P39-R comes with a choice between male RJ45 connector or rugged M12 connector for alternative installation depending on application. IP67-rated, this tough, unobtrusive camera can withstand vibrations, temperature fluctuations, shocks and bumps. Installing the P3904-R camera is made quick and easy as the desired field of view and a levelled image can be achieved using the included lens tool.

Featuring Axis' Traffic Light mode, the P3904-R is able to intelligently distinguish colours of traffic lights in dark environments, enabling better event analysis of security footage whilst wide dynamic range technology ensures dark and bright areas of a scene are both captured in detail. If the area being monitored is more vertical than horizontal, a large proportion of the stream is often redundant; Axis Corridor Format combats this issue by vertically orientating the video stream to optimise for this viewing format.

The Axis P3904-R provides accurate and reliable CCTV surveillance through intelligent video motion detection and a tampering alarm that alerts the user via email (and additional methods) if the camera is subject to spray painting or blocking. Power over Ethernet (PoE) support enables the Axis P3904-R to be powered via the network cable for quicker installation whilst MicroSD card recording provides an ideal mobile storage solution (MicroSD card sold separately). Video files can be compressed using H.264 format for reduced bandwidth and storage use whilst Motion JPEG provides an alternative high quality, high bitrate video format when required.

Axis Companion software provides video management for up to 16 cameras and can be downloaded ,for free to the P3904-R. In addition, Axis provides handy mobile app access for security monitoring via smartphones and tablets.
