Overview of the Bosch FLEXIDOME IP indoor 5000

This indoor dome IP camera range supports resolutions up to 5 megapixel, complete with true day/night capability. Part of the affordable Flexidome range by Bosch, the camera features a built-in microphone as well as support for two-way audio and edge storage. Additionally, remote monitoring is supported with the Bosch Video Security mobile application.

The unit's varifocal lens enables wide scene coverage with one IP camera and by utilising the pan/tilt/rotation mechanism, the user is able to select the exact field of view during set up. Definable regions of interest produce separate streams for viewing and recording. These, together with the main stream, enable the user to separately monitor areas of interest whilst retaining overall awareness.

Six different models are available in this range and offer support for 1080p (30 frames per second) or 5 megapixel resolution (12 fps), infrared night-vision and Bosch's AVF (Automatic Varifocal) feature. Models that include built-in IR LEDs are capable of delivering enhanced night-vision at a range of up to 15m. Additionally, Bosch's AVF (Automatic Varifocal) feature allows the zoom to be adjusted remotely without having to open the camera. This feature can be activated from a PC or via the on-board camera button.

The camera has an integrated microphone that allows users to listen in and record audio in the monitored area. Two-way audio is enabled when a speaker (not included) is connected via an external I/O port - allowing verbal interaction. Audio, tamper and motion alarms are configurable and will notify users of incidents.

Bandwidth levels can be managed with the use of area-based encoding. Compression parameters for up to eight regions can be set, which allows less interesting regions to be highly compressed, leaving more bandwidth for areas deemed more important. On-board storage provides a backup if the network fails, recording files onto the MicroSD card (card not included). Power-over-Ethernet compatibility allows the camera to receive power and network connectivity over a single cable. Additionally, remote monitoring is supported with the use of Bosch’s free Video Security app. The app supports live viewing, camera control and viewing of recordings - all from a mobile device.
