i-PRO are a security camera manufacturer born out of Panasonic, who offer a broad range of IP CCTV cameras, NVRs and associated products and who are rapidly rising in popularity due to their focus on affordability, features and cybersecurity.

As with other manufacturers, you can read a product's capabilities from its model number. This can be extremely useful to a regular user or buyer of  i-PRO cameras as it can help you to understand quickly what you are using or buying. Here we have a quick guide to what the i-PRO product numbers mean.

IP Cameras

Firstly, there are two different formats for cameras which are, perhaps confusingly, quite similar. Let's break each one down.

Breaking down the product name for the i-PRO U2540LA, as an example, we have a 'Utility' range dome camera which is vandal-proof and has 4 megapixel resolution and built-in IR illuminators, and which is suitable for indoor use.

Other examples include: i-PRO U1130A indoor fixed box camerai-PRO U2540LA outdoor fixed dome camera and i-PRO U1532LA outdoor varifocal bullet camera.

Please note as well that type 1 is a legacy naming convention which is being phased out and that type 2 is being used for all new products now and in the future, though some products still exist that use type 1. However, there is little difference between the two types and type 2 is more comprehensive for the newer product set.
