Overview of the Panasonic i-PRO WV-SFV481

This outdoor-ready dome IP camera by Panasonic i-PRO can deliver a maximum resolution of 9 megapixels at up to 15 frames per second (fps) and the 360° fisheye lens offers wide area coverage. The unit’s IK10 rated housing, combined with support for true day/night recording, provides a durable round-the-clock monitoring solution. Additional features include support for two-way audio and SD card recording.

A wide variety of viewing modes are available such as panorama and double panorama, and when dewarped, these views allow the original 360° overview image to be seen more naturally with less distortion. Additionally, quad and single PTZ views allow specific areas of the scene to be monitored in more detail - helpful when investigating events.

Image processing such as wide dynamic range (WDR) and adaptive black stretch (ABS) help to improve the quality of images captured in challenging light conditions. The built-in auto back focus (ABF) feature enables focus to be set at installation and accurate focus to be maintained when the IR cut filter is turned on or off.

Up to 4 video motion detection areas can be configured to enhance scene awareness and help deliver reliable security monitoring. When motion is detected, the Panasonic alarm command feature can be used to trigger certain tasks such as email notification or local recording to SD card. Alarm signalling can be enhanced with the connection of an external alarm source via the built in I/O ports. Additionally, up to 8 individual privacy masks can be configured to prevent unwanted activity from being recorded.

The unit can provide two-way audio when a microphone and speaker (not included) are connected via the audio I/O ports, enabling verbal interaction through the camera.

The Panasonic Security Viewer application is free to download and provides a handy remote monitoring solution. Supported by iOS and Android, the app provides access to live images and basic camera control functions when the user is away from site.

Panasonic's Variable Image Quality on Specified Area (VIQS) technology is included and allows up to eight user-defined areas of the image to retain a higher image quality whilst the remainder of the image is streamed in lower quality, helping to reduce image file size and bit-rate. Power-over-Ethernet compatibility allows the camera to receive power and network connectivity over a single cable. Additionally, on-board storage provides a backup if the network fails, recording files onto the SD card (card not included).
